Wallet Troubleshooting FAQ

Where can I get the wallet from?

Follow the instructions from the site, which can be found here: https://electraproject.weebly.com/getting-started.html

Known issues:
a. The wallet may give an error the first time you attempt to open it due to Windows user permissions. If so, open it again and it should work (it happens only on the first run).
b. There have been cases where the antivirus software prevents the wallet from running, and to solve this, Electra-qt needs to be added as an exception.

What does "rpcpassword" and "rpcuser" stand for?

See here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=17644.0

My antivirus marked the wallet as virus.

The wallet is not a virus.

However, if you're a little paranoid, install a virtual machine and install the wallet on that. It won't make a difference if you keep it on the virtual machine or your main machine.

How do I transfer funds to my wallet?

Using the exchange of your choice enter your receiving address and send them.

Warning:

MAKE SURE YOUR RECEIVING ADDRESS IS CORRECT.

DON'T SEND ALL YOUR COINS AT ONCE. SEND A SMALL AMOUNT FIRST, MAKE SURE IT ARRIVES SAFELY, THEN SEND THE REST.

How do I backup my wallet?

Open your wallet, go to File -> Backup Wallet

Save it somewhere(it will be saved as a .dat file).

WARNING:
Keep backups of your wallet in multiple locations, preferably on a piece of hardware that's not connected to the internet. A healthy dose of paranoia is good. Encrypting the wallet before exporting it is also recommended.

I lost my .dat wallet file. Help?

If you lost your .dat file there's nothing anybody can do to help you. Don't lose it!

Additional questions.

Should I keep my coins on an exchange?

No. Generally speaking if you don't intend to trade, never keep your coins on any exchange site.
You wouldn't trust a stranger with keys to your house, would you? Because that's exactly what you're doing if you leave it on an exchange. They have your private keys.
